What we make

We produce metal badges worn on uniforms, caps and ID holders by police, security and emergency services. Common types are shield or star breast badges, cap badges, collar insignia and smaller rank or unit badges. Each design is made from new tooling cut to your approved artwork.

Materials and construction

  • Brass is die-struck under hydraulic presses for crisp edges and a solid, heavy feel. It is the standard choice for breast and cap badges.
  • Copper strikes very fine detail for small insignia and lettering.
  • Zinc alloy is die-cast for cut-out shapes, layered emblems and deep 3D relief.
  • Stainless steel suits plain or printed badges that need to resist corrosion.

Colour and finish

Hard enamel is the usual colour method for uniform badges: colour is filled level with the metal and polished flat, so it wears well with daily handling. Soft enamel costs less and leaves a textured surface. Plating options include shiny gold and silver, two-tone combinations, antique finishes and black nickel for low-visibility badges. Colours are matched to Pantone references you supply.

Attachments

Badges can be fitted with pin backs, butterfly clutches, locking backs or safety pins, depending on how they are worn. Tell us whether the badge goes on a shirt, jacket, cap or holder and we will suggest a fitting.

Choosing a design

Most agencies already have an approved badge design. Send the reference artwork or a clear photo of an existing badge, with its size and finish. We redraw it as production artwork with recessed and raised areas marked, and you approve the colour draft and vector file before any die is cut. See how it works for the approval steps and the customization guide for every metal and finish.

Ordering notes

The minimum order is 100 pieces per design. Samples take about 7 days and finished goods about 14 days in total, both counted from the day after your deposit. Authorisation from the issuing agency is checked before sampling. For coins issued to units, see challenge coins. When you have your authorisation ready, request a quote.

Police & security badges: common questions

What do you need before making a police badge order?

Your artwork and written confirmation that you are entitled to use the insignia and hold any authorisation your own law requires. Everything else works like a normal order.

Which metal and finish do most uniform badges use?

Die-struck brass with hard enamel is the most common choice because the edges stay crisp and the enamel is polished smooth and hard-wearing. Zinc alloy is used when the badge needs cut-outs or deep 3D shapes.

Can each badge carry its own number or name?

Yes. We laser engrave a serial number, a collar number or a name on each piece. Send the full list with your enquiry and we will confirm how it fits your design, price and lead time.

Do you make badges for private security companies?

Yes. The same rule applies: you confirm that you are entitled to use the design and take responsibility for how the badges are used.
